as a church today, I believe we are worrying too much about accomodating the sinners that we ignore the influence their unchecked sin exercises on our congregation. Id Est, we tell people that sinning is fine to get them interested in coming back to church and dropping a 20 in the offering plate. I strongly disagree with the use of the phrase "converting (insert name here)", as the only one who can convert is God Himself. God calls us to be a witness to the world, not a friend to their transgressions, and by trying to make them feel comfortable while wallowing in their own sin,we're sending the message that it is fine to sin, because God will never hold them accountable. God is merciful, but He cannot put up with unforgiven sin. There is only one way to forgive those sins, and it's not by making them feel good about their pagan lifestyle.
